Bank Details Scams is our series of Online Shopping Safety Forewarn, that we’ll look into it this week. Nowadays, personal private data such as our name, phone numbers, and emails are easily accessible in various manner.
One of the methods is The Bank Details Scam which scammers who will fancy stealing your bank accounts details via SMS or phone calls.
Bank Details Scams Modus Operandi
It’ll done by a person (Scammer) who will send you an SMS mimicking a transaction confirmation on an e-commerce platform.
Fake SMS received is usually to notify you of someone is using your paymennt details on any e-commerce platform.
The SMS will contain a phone number to call, and If called, the scammer itself will pretend to be a bank employee aiming to obtain your bank accounts and verification details.
As a result, they’ve stolen all your money because your bank detail is exposed by you!
1. DO NOT call any number stated in fishy SMS. Always check and call the contact number stated at the back of your bank’s debit/credit card so you can verify any transaction directly.
2. Most of the time bank’s official SMS will only be sent via SMS AGGREGATORS, NOT mobile numbers so be aware of the differences.
3. At all times, DO NOT share any OTPs, debit/credit card details, or any type of bank account information to anyone through SMS or phone calls.
Lastly, ensured you’re not to believe in any calls or SMS sent out to you claiming they’re from the Banks.
Double-check everything that involves any Payments, transactions are done or banks transfer directly to your bank is safer.
Avoid Bank detail scams easily by disregard any anonymous number mainly personal number that is not aggregators from the bank.
